Placebos, Antacids and Cimetidine for Duodenal Ulcer

Cimetidine came on the scene just after the development of excellent endoscopic methods for visualizing duodenal ulcers. These better endoscopes, together with the need for intensive clinical studies before cimetidine could be released, have resulted in more reliable data on medical therapy of peptic ulcer than had been produced in the previous 100 years. However, the information has come so fast that it is hard to keep up with it, let alone understand what it all means.
