Of Dirty Old Men

To the Editor: The term "dirty old man" is a descriptive one used mostly in conversation and with differing connotations. To the practicing physician it describes a middle-aged or older man whose trousers are slightly stained by urine that has dribbled after voiding. There are no data on prevalence, but a casual survey among physicians providing general patient care suggests this to be a common condition and, because of stained trousers and underwear, one of concern to many of those afflicted.A search of the indexed medical literature under various possible key words that might pertain has been sterile.
