The Triad of Gastric Leiomyosarcoma, Functioning Extra-Adrenal Paraganglioma and Pulmonary Chondroma

The association of three uncommon neoplasms — gastric leiomyosarcoma, functioning extra-adrenal paraganglioma and pulmonary chondroma — in two patients and the occurrence of two of these tumors in two other patients suggests that this association is not fortuitous and may constitute a syndrome.Case SummariesCase 1. A 25-year-old woman had anomalies of the external and middle ears at birth. At the age of 12, an asymptomatic mass, which proved to be a paraganglioma (carotid-body tumor), was excised from the left side of the neck. When 24 years of age, she had massive hematemesis. At gastrectomy, there were five leiomyosarcomas . . .
