For two centuries, the New England Journal of Medicine has published the world’s most influential medical research. NEJM has published reports from the frontiers of medical science and practice since its early days. NEJM documented the first public demonstration of ether anesthesia in 1846, the first full description of a spinal-disk rupture in 1934, and the first successes in the treatment of early childhood leukemia in 1948. More recent articles include some of the earliest descriptions of AIDS and then of its treatment, and of aspirin and cholesterol-lowering agents in the prevention of heart disease. Now you can access the entire NEJM Archive online, going back to 1812.
The NEJM Archive is a vital resource for teaching and research. With over 150,000 articles, 8,657 issues, 478,000 pages, 85,316 images, and 610,000 references, the NEJM Archive is certain to include the information you need. And with its full array of search, filter, and sort features, the NEJM Archive makes it easy to find what you’re looking for quickly.
All articles have been scanned at high resolution; the earliest NEJM articles, published between 1812 and 1944, are presented as searchable PDFs. Articles published between 1945 and 1989 are presented just like current content, accompanied by the PDFs. Articles are fully searchable, tabbed for easy access, and available as PDFs or full-text HTML with downloadable graphics. Where possible, we have also added full issues and cover and advertising sections in order to showcase the print advertisements that were published in the original issue.
You can browse and sort articles using search filters; search the entire Archive by specialty, topic, or article type; and filter search results for greater precision.
