In the Statistical Analysis subsection of Methods (page 1458), the P value given at the end of the first sentence should have read, “(P≥0.01).” In Table 1 (page 1459), the column head “AREDS Case–Control Series” should have been followed by a footnote symbol (†), and the following footnote should have appeared below the table: “†Twenty-three of the case patients were not from the AREDS cohort but were referred by ophthalmologists.” The same footnote should also have appeared in Tables 1 and 4 of the Supplementary Appendix. The data presented in Table 4 of the Supplementary Appendix should have been calculated for one degree of freedom, rather than two. The article has been corrected and the Supplementary Appendix replaced at NEJM.org.
