What Ails the FDA? (Perspective, N Engl J Med 2005:352;1063 - 1066) . On page 1064, in the last paragraph in the left-hand column, line 3 should have read, “For new molecular entities (drugs whose active ingredient has never before been approved in the United States) that were given a `priority review,'” rather than “For drugs given a `priority review,'” as printed. In the same paragraph, lines 7 and 8 should have read, “For new molecular entities given a `standard review,'” rather than “For drugs given a `standard review,'” as printed. In the graph on page 1065, the first entry in the key should have read, “All new molecular entities,” rather than “All new drugs,” as printed. The title of the graph should have read, “Median Total Time to FDA Approval for New Molecular Entities,” rather than “for New Drug Applications,” as printed. The second sentence of the legend should have read, “The number at the bottom of each bar is the number of new molecular entities approved,” rather than “the number of drugs reviewed,” as printed. We regret the errors.
