Figure 1 Sarcoidosis.
This image was obtained by scanning with gallium citrate Ga 67 in a 24-year-old woman with uveitis and iritis, fatigue, night sweats, myalgia, arthralgia, and a nonproductive cough. The study shows intense localization of the tracer in the lacrimal and salivary glands and in several nodal groups, including the paratracheal nodes, hilar nodes, and celiac nodes (arrow); the diffuse pulmonary uptake signals parenchymal involvement. This scintigraphic pattern -- with the “panda” appearance of the face -- is typical of sarcoidosis.
